Welcome to the Postgraduate Association of Southern Cross University.

Lantern Parade 2008

crux is just for you; to represent your issues; support your academic needs and foster your academic potential.

PRAXIS

is our annual conference, where postgraduates can gain experience presenting their work in a supportive collegial environment. The great value of this conference to postgraduates lies in the opportunity to refine theories into a presentation which will provide excellent experience to help to develop the skills and confidence to present at national and international conferences. There are also the great benefits of networking with other postgraduates and sharing studying and research experiences. Go to Praxis in your first year of candidacy; you will be so glad you did... and presenting at Praxis is a pre-requisite for funding to attend other conferences, so start planning your presentation now. Please check out the link to the conferences to get a feel for what has been happening and to think about your contribution to this year's event to be held in Coffs Harbour. Use the magazine link above and read Cruxis 2008 for more information and articles about the conference.

CRUXIS

is your magazine. Published annually, CRUXIS is a valuable forum providing publication experience for SCU postgraduates in a non-peer reviewed magazine, which allows for further publication of the articles. Each submission is edited and we welcome items on any topic, whether that be research, poetry, paintings or photographs. Please take a look at the 2008 edition to get an idea.

Social events

Get-togethers will be held throughout the year in response to demand. So if you are interested in a regular or one-off get-together as a way to meet and network with other postgrads, contact us and we will spread the word.

The Committee

Now that there is an office administrator, the responsibilities for committee members are greatly reduced. We urge you to consider joining the committee; you will only be required to attend 4 meetings a year and maintain regular e-mail contact. There are many opportunities on campus for postgraduate students to be involved. Crux Postgraduate Association represents postgraduate students on University Boards and Committees. Interested? Come and talk to us.

We look forward to meeting you in person; we encourage you to send us your e-mail address, and we greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

We also wish you great success in your studies, but if you need help, crux is just for you.
